Dual Scope, One Trusted Team: AJS Masonry Delivers Concrete & Masonry at SUNY Albany Business School

When the University at Albany launched construction of its new Business School building — a LEED Gold Certified, state-of-the-art academic facility — they needed trusted contractors capable of executing both structural and architectural scopes with precision. AJS Masonry, Inc. was awarded not just one, but two key packages: the full structural concrete scope and the complete masonry package.

Already responsible for nearly 7,000 cubic yards of structural concrete and 525 tons of rebar, AJS was also selected to provide the masonry work, which included:

  • CMU installation

  • Interior and exterior bluestone veneer panels

  • Exterior granite base detailing

The natural stone veneer panels posed unique challenges due to their size and weight, making precision placement essential. To ensure both efficiency and safety, AJS utilized its 26-ton hydraulic crane, allowing crews to maneuver and install the panels with speed and accuracy — even in tight campus conditions.

This seamless integration of concrete and masonry work is a prime example of how AJS streamlines project delivery, reduces contractor overlap, and brings union-trained crews, certified specialists, and on-site equipment to every job.

With decades of experience on higher education campuses across Albany, Troy, and the greater Capital Region, AJS Masonry is the go-to contractor for institutional buildings that demand both structural strength and architectural finesse.
